Infrastructure Development: Economic environment-economic population

Allandale Interchange Infrastructure Development

Allandale Intersection Infrastructure Development Allandale Interchange Infrastructure Development

Description of development project

Allandale Interchange was redesigned by SANRAL ( South African National Roads Agency Ltd ) it is an independent statutory company registered in terms of the companies act.SANRAL has a distinct mandate to finance, improve, manage and maintain the national road network and its aim is to participate in communities in communities across south Africa. due to immense traffic conditions. As part if infrastructure development, Allandale Interchange was developed to ensure better flowing traffic and simply developed on ramps, off-ramps and free flowing carriage ways. Allandale Interchange is still under construction, but upon completion it will boast with: five new bridges, several loops and ramps and two extra lanes on the N1 in both directions, thus making it the core section of the GFIP (Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project ) package 'C'. also developed the better travelling along the way and allowing freedom of use by children and youth and providing an alternative route for road users : private and public sectors.

Why is this development?

This project is considered as development as it is improving one of the main concerns raised by government, namely infrastructure. Economic development is brought forward by the construction of the new interchange which focuses on higher productivity levels for all companies due to less traffic problems resulting in people arriving on time for work and less fuel consumption caused by slow moving traffic. The re- construction of Allandale Interchange is thus more economic to individual households and firms because expenditure on fuel is much lower. Allandale as an economic development also touches on the matter of employment as it creates job opportunities. The Allandale Interchange development project has by itself created approximately 95 job opportunities which only amounts to about 25% of jobs created by the GFIP package "C" excluding external suppliers and sub-contractors.
This project benefits the members of the community because it is developing people. Allandale development project created jobs for construction workers, this brings back to the economy as the unemployment rate decreases. also improve the living standard for those who doesn't work because they get to be employed by the way the highest rate of poverty will decrease in our communities and unemployment. This is a development because of the infrastructure which took place this allows uneducated people and those whom are more skill full to partake in the infrastructure activity thus this all comes down to job creation,it is a form to influence the economy thus there will be less crime, poverty and hunger which will all in all benefit the economy and South Africa as a whole,it is also considered to be a development cause of the infrastructure of the roads which makes it easier for pedestrians ,public and private users to use the road for it is road worthy and safe for everyone in the community.these development is aiming to develop all roads for safety and improve the long traffics that waste other peoples time and unnecessary accidents.it is job creation also creating for unemployed people and serve as skills training as others turn to learn new things there.the improvement of roads makes things to be more quick than having to wait for long traffic while others arrive at work late.the development also play a role in making deliveries arrive in time and safe.the new road improvements of installing ccv cameras through the road it is another way to create a well safer travelling unlike being hijacked and robberies.the roads are more modified and more advanced with the new advanced technology.

The development theory which underpins this project

The theory which underpins this development project is Keynesianism, which was brought forward by John Maynard Keynes, where the main goal is economic growth- focusing on full employment. This theory states that the government should intervene in promoting economic growth and that the key to economic growth is investment such as infrastructure development and has the government and market as its main actors. Keynes disagreed with classical economists as he believed that the non-intervention theory by classical theorists would not work. The GFIP (Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project) is a government initiative, which states that the government takes the full financial responsibility concerning this development project. In developing infrastructure, economic activity is increased and unemployment is reduced which then leads to economic development as the population will also have more money to spend and will also be able to pay tax, which will strengthen the economy and for see better service delivery. this theory does not promote monopoly within the market, the government intervenes with the running of the business and operates within the best interest of the people. also the development theory that underpins this project is the keysianism theory, This is because it focused on economic growth thus based on this project employment goes hand in hand with the economic growth, therefore this project will be beneficial to children and youth for poverty and hunger will be reduced and the South African economy will grow. There will be advancement in development as well as job opportunities, in this case road infrastructure and safety for road users and pedestrians
.This development underpins the Keynesian's theory this is simply because the contribution of this project is to improve on the economy and promoting economic growth thus this will eventually lead to the influence of job opportunities, the theory focuses and states the importance of officials partaking in the influence and promoting economic welfare therefore South African government contributed by promoting safety and developing infrastructure which also assisted in job creations thus also boost the economy as how the theory aimed at doing with the theory going hand in hand with the project this will allow individuals and government to see the importance of economic growth and the focus on employment.

The Advantages of this Development to children and youth

The advantages of this development is that it contributed to the economy thus that means the economy growth will rapidly grow and increase, therefore there would be more job opportunities and poverty will be decreased. The development is infrastructure to build the roads in order for users to use it for alternative usage as well as to provide road worthy roads for community and society as a whole thus the importance of the road safety is important especially for children and youth members whom use the roads from a day to day bases to go to and fro school or possibly work.the advantage of this development is that, youth are given opportunities to partake in roads tenders this days.more young people are needed to give their skills to such development.some new advanced and modified pedestrians bridges are being reconstructed, like here at the university of Johannesburg there is also a bridge that makes it easier for student to cross by to the other side of the school unlike having to use the same road with cars and be knocked off by cars.this also helps children who are using transport to go school.with the well roads improvement it helps in time consuming and safety to school.

The Disadvantages of the development to children and youth

The disadvantages of this development project is the way in which the environment is harmed in the developing process, e.g. tress are cut down. "Sustainable development" states
that resources must be used wisely to ensure that it is available for future generations. Not only is the environment being harmed, but the workers- could be
someones mother of father, but motorists driving by as well- who could be children. Although these roads intend to ease any traffic problems which might have
occurred before the development, but has seen to create confusion within motorists if roads have changed or closed. This may result in the child being late for his
activity as well as his guardian losing his/her job for also not being on time. This can cause many sicknesses to children and increase child mortality rate.
The disadvantage of this project is the lack of sustainability thus this will have a negative impact for the future generations as well as if it does happen that load shedding takes place or robots are done this will be harder for children and youth to cross the roads which will result in a slight increase in death rate, another disadvantage about the project is that it is expensive as much as it helps the economic growth it also takes away money from the parents by them having to pay tax all the time, this means that fro every time they have to pay fro tax they children have to suffer and possibly going to bed with empty tummies : the reasoning for tax is to improve the road use and thus ensuring that the roads are safe and if possible or necessary developing new or other roads.some young people turn to quit school at an early knowing that they will work in such development as they know that you don't have to be educated to partake in such development only your power is required in some certain work.this might also be one of the things that impact in high rates of drop outs.
