SOUTH AFRICAN SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

SA Skills development

Description Of Project

This programme was started to help prevent unemployment as well as create employment . It is about developing skills in South Africa to equip people with the necessary skills for the work place. This project was formed to train and provide people with skills especially focusing on technical skills in order for them to follow right career paths and to know what to expect in the work industry and also what is expected of them in the future. A large amount of South Africa's population is unemployed due to two main factors:

These factors includes a high level of illiteracy, insufficient experience and qualifications which could be summoned up as skills. The project is about boosting the country's economy by reducing the unemployment rate in South Africa, through training people to be highly efficient and productive in the work place. The project itself has various phases that need to be completed in order to enhance the level of productivity in the workplace.

These steps include: the introductory phase whereby the aspiring workers will be introduced to the concepts of their respective job descriptions, the training phase includes weeks of learning how to do the work through monitored training, and the final stage is the employment phase where the trainee becomes an employee of that respective company.

Why is this a development project

It is a development because it helps the youth of this country to develop their skills espcially technical skills. The youth will develop this skills so that they will be well developed for now and even for the future. Being developed with the above mentioned skills will be an advantage for the youth as well as for the country as whole. So this project is a development project as if helps the country to develop certain skills which will benifit almost everyone and lead to a more advanced and developed country. It is development because it is bettring peoples lives especially the youth and children since rates of crimes and unemployment are reduced.

Theory underpinning development project

This theory is the modernisation theory which talks about modernisation and its process within a given society. This theory focuses on that within the society and ways in which to develop it and by so doing making it better. It concentrates on bettering the society by bringing about a more modern way of viewing the society. This process seeks to find less developed societies into more developed ones by introducing new media and technologies to assist in modernising that given society. Skills development is also essential where modernisation is concerned, it promotes the need for new skills and better education, causing there to be a better understanding of the world as it is today. Thus the picture here shows that new skills together with new technologies have been developed in order to better the society and create a more modernised society.Despite the above, tyhe theory forcuses on thoughts which brought social moves and technological achivements into a new epoch which is exactly happening in South Africa with skill development. It went further to explain how technological advancement necesarily lead to social advancement as well, yet this also stated by the mordenisation theory.

How does this project impact on youth/children

Development is beneficial for all people in any given environment, not only does it contribute to the community as a whole but also the individual. This project creates the ability for one to better ones self and empower themselves by creating a platform that allows for one to gain knowledge and experience of a field they might not have been equipped with at first. This is a great advantage to the youth because when one can develop their skills they are at a better position to make it as an individual and thus better their lives. This project also brings forth opportunities for job creation, eradicating both poverty and preventing high levels of crime, this ensures that the youth are at a better standing financially, and when one is financially capable they are able to feed themselves and are prone to better health and nutrition; than those who are not financially stable. The better the youth can care for themselves the safer the entire country becomes, thus this project not only empowers the mind but also encourages development of the whole. The children have a plateform to be motivated to work hard in school and got to aquire these skills hence a bettr and brighter future. Also youths will get experience which will help them to stand a better chance of getting a bette skilled.Through skill development many youths cease wonderers and become occupied somewhere this will reduce the rates of crimes and deviances.

This development issue doesn't have any disadvantages for children and the youth. It only contributes positively by giving the children and youth of South Africa the opportunity to better themselves when it comes to the work environment. They will be able to acquire skills that will help them get the jobs they want and help them to be great at those job. By promoting skills development to the youngsters of the country we can improve the way they see themselves, as well Thomasas their work ethic. We can enable them to enjoy their work and to reap the benefits of doing a job well and efficiently. If everyone receives the skills development it will not only benefit the youth and children but it will also benefit the employers, as well the whole society because it can play a large role in eradicating crime and poverty because everyone has the skills and the equality to take themselves out of a negative situation through good employment due to the well developed skills. This is nothing but a bag of blessings to children and youth of South Africa.

The Impact of Skills Development

Many businesses in world today focuses on and promotes skills development. Without developing the skills of our work force, businesses would cease to exist. A strong work force requires all the members of the force to be as efficient as possible in their field. To be one hundred percent sure that your company or business is producing and functioning at its maximum it is vital to have people working in an environment that they fully understand.
With a strong production line due to an equally strong work force, the business can reach new heights and be more successful. Whereas if a company does not take the time to develop the skills of their workers, chances are high that the business would not be very successful because its staff and other workers are neglecting their jobs. This could then lead to an increase in unemployment because members of the work force are being fired due to work negligence. Therefore it is vital that companies take the time to educate and train their staff in order to improve their work ethic, skills development and over all production.
In addition, by developing skills, this will automatically increase work performance in various work places. Through the Skill Development Act and Skill Levies Act of South Africa this has been an investment in people which is aiming at improving work efficiency of the country's work force. This project helps both individuals and the countries economy at large.Since people will be skilled, they can be employed and earn a living through that thus the rates of unemployment is greatly reduced.

The key role players in this development project

This project will help the youth in terms of aquiring more skills which will help them access better employment opprtunities. This project will also help in decreasing the level of drop-outs from schools because if the youth sees more of their peers being more successful after going through the process of primary; secondary and formal training of the work they will be practicing even if they did not go through tertiary education; this project will serve as a motivation tool to them giving them hope that they might still be successful even if they only have yhe foundation of only primary and secondary education plus the skills the would be aquiring from the sjills development project.
